Manifestos, next step

Personal Manifestos
Working again at 8 x 10, create three different layouts using your manifesto text. Explore how the messaging can change by employing different modes of hierarchy. These should be diverse. Composition matters, these should be beautiful. You are now free to combine any strategies for creating contrast; i.e. leading, scale, indent, tracking, etc. These should be black and white, with text only.

Group Manifesto
Parameters:
_Large scale broadside
_Everyone should design a portion of it
_Everyone should have a say in the language and the design

Considerations:
Elements of the project brief to decide as a group
_Final Size?
_How will you print it?
_Color?
_Typefaces?
_How can you create a collective design artifact that allows individuals to design components?
_What are the project roles? Do you have team leaders?

Project Five, Phase One

step one: Select three varied texts, identify quote. Using an 8x10 format, explore hierarchy to achieve varied meaning and impact. Create three versions of each following these restrictions:

Version One
Explore only Leading and Scale
Choose the left edge where the text begins and keep that same placement through all 3 compositions.

Version Two
Explore only Weight/Style and indent
Using one text size with a right reading, flush left, ragged right alignment, explore hierarchy only through indentation of text using “tabs”. (btw: You can set custom tabs) Choose the top edge (y-axis) where the text begins and keep that same placement through all 3 compositions.

Version Three
Free Style
